Where it fits in your routine
This one works on contact — there is nothing to wait for.
What that covers, and what it does not
Measured on: Corneometer stratum corneum hydration.
A polyol humectant behaves like glycerin's weaker relative: it is hygroscopic, stays on and in the stratum corneum, and holds water there from the first application, which is a physical effect with nothing to remodel. There is no vehicle-controlled human study of sorbitol alone with time points, so the bucket rests on mechanism only; sorbitol is also frequently present for texture and sweetness in oral care rather than for measurable skin hydration, and at the 2-10% range in the base its contribution is modest. Nothing is known about whether repeated use adds anything beyond the single-application effect.
Mechanism only; no single-ingredient human time-course study located.

Sorbitol, answered
Is Sorbitol safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Sorbitol is considered safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. As with anything, if you are unsure it is worth a quick word with your doctor or midwife.
Who should avoid Sorbitol?
No specific group is flagged to avoid Sorbitol. It is well tolerated by most skin. Still, introduce anything new one product at a time.
What concentration of Sorbitol actually works?
Sorbitol tends to do its job in the 2 to 10% range. Much lower and it is likely underdosed.
