A low-viscosity alkyl-substituted silicone spreads into a continuous thin film whose frictional and refractive properties change the surface on contact, with no biological step in between — the same physics as any silicone emollient. The base agrees this is surface-only and says outright that any moisture benefit is inferred from the film rather than measured, so the barrier_support_score of 1 has no timeline behind it; asked specifically about TEWL, the answer for that outcome would be unknown.
