What it does

  • repair
  • anti aging
  • brightening
  • anti acne

moderate evidenceRandomized split face trials show rhEGF cream reduced inflammatory acne lesions 33.5 percent and non inflammatory lesions 25.4 percent over 6 weeks and an EGF serum improved melasma in 73 percent of subjects versus 13 percent on placebo over 8 weeks while micro spicule delivery and post laser scar studies also favor EGF. One post laser wound healing trial found no added benefit over plain petrolatum and several positive effects may depend on enhanced delivery rather than simple cream penetration.

Give it four to eight weeks, and possibly less: that is simply when it was measured.

What was measured, and in whom

Measured on: Acne lesion counts melasma grading wrinkle and dermal density measures by clinical grading imaging and skin probes.

Acne patients using split face rhEGF cream had significant lesion reductions after 6 weeks and melasma subjects applying EGF serum for 8 weeks improved versus placebo while micro spicule EGF showed superior dermal density by 4 and 8 weeks. Scar improvement after fractional CO2 laser plus EGF took 3 months and used enhanced delivery so the 4 to 8 week value covers the intact skin cream trials only.
